Director of Retail Development
As Director of Retail Development, Mark Lake is responsible for the development and execution of strategies relating to the firm’s retail development opportunities and portfolio. He is involved in all aspects of the retail development process from concept to completion including design, financial analysis, contract negotiation, due diligence, entitlement, construction management and marketing.
Mark started his development career as a Municipal Planner for the City of New Berlin. In that role, Mark gained strong physical planning and municipal engineering experience along with neighborhood and shopping center design skills. Because of his ability to understand development project nuances and the complexities of the entitlement process, he was recruited into the private sector in 2002. There, Mark developed dozens of local and national retail properties as well as several residential subdivisions. His retail achievements include pharmacies, grocery stores, banks, auto centers, home improvement centers, and retail strip centers.
Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point and his Masters of Urban Planning from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Mark was awarded his Professional Planning Certification (AICP) in 1997 and his Certified Design, Development and Construction Professional (CDP) designation in 2012. Mark is a member of the American Planning Association, American Institute of Certified Planners, the International Council of Shopping Centers, Commercial Association of Realtors – Wisconsin and he is a member of the NAIOP Wisconsin Board of Directors.
