Wangard Partners Honored for West Allis Industrial Project

Wangard Partners has been honored for its clean-up of the former Yellow Freight site in West Allis; creating an industrial cluster for the City of West Allis.Last week the Daily Reporter hosted its annual Top Projects of 2015 awards ceremony, which drew nearly 750 people to the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino Expo Center in celebration of this year’s winners. The 40 Top Projects from around the state received recognition for uniqueness, project challenges that were resolved before and during construction, community impact as well as any advancement it provided to the construction industry. Wangard Partners’ West Allis Industrial development received one of the Top Project awards.“Wangard Partners recognized the redevelopment opportunity for this site several years ago and worked diligently with the City of West Allis to bring it to fruition. The development had to overcome environmental contamination challenges from past uses as well as abandonment and removal of an old railroad spur. We collaborated with the City of West Allis and various governmental agencies on the clean-up and redevelopment plan for the site. The end result is a successful development with two fully leased, modern industrial buildings totaling 132,000 square feet that both Wangard Partners and the City can be proud of well into the future.”

“West Allis is very excited about the new, Wangard development on 116th and Rogers,” stated Mayor Devine. “It is a great example of the city’s mission to eliminate outdated, blighted property and bring in new tax base and jobs through high quality development.”

“Since the West Allis Industrial development broke ground, the City has seen an increase in development activity. The City also recently presented this Brownfield revitalization project at the Brownfield 2015 Conference in Chicago. The complexity of financing, including the use of New Market Tax Credits, earned us runner-up (second) placement out of 40 projects from across the country,” said John Stibal, Director of Development for the City of West Allis.
