MILWAUKEE, Wis.– The Wisconsin Chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, hosted it’s Annual Meeting and Awards Program on January 31, 2024 at the Milwaukee Westin and recognized Matt Moroney with the 2023 Mike Mooney Award.
“Receiving the Mike Mooney Award is not just a personal honor, but a moment that reflects the collective effort and support of my colleagues, mentors, and the community. This recognition is a testament to the collaborative spirit that drives our industry.” Said Matt Moroney, CEO of Wangard Partners. “I am deeply humbled to be acknowledged by the great community of NAIOP and will view this award as a reminder of our shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and positive impact in the world of commercial real estate. My gratitude goes to NAIOP and everyone who has been a part of this journey.”
Known for his active leadership in NAIOP Wisconsin Chapter’s public policy and economic development efforts, Matt Moroney, former gubernatorial Deputy Chief of Staff and Deputy Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and current CEO of Wangard Partners, has been a pivotal figure both at the local and state levels. His invaluable contributions have been crucial in forwarding significant policy initiatives, including Tax Increment Financing (TIF), Wetlands reform, and efforts to eliminate costly bureaucratic hurdles that hinder and escalate the costs of development. Furthermore, Moroney’s previous role was instrumental in the establishment of the NAIOP Wisconsin Chapter, where he also honorably served as its first Executive Director.
The Mike Mooney Award was created by the Wisconsin Chapter of NAIOP and is presented to individuals who have shown exceptional leadership in advancing economic development in Wisconsin.
