Millennial Milwaukee: Developer eyes new generation

Wangard Partners Inc.’s apartment projects are a glimpse of what the developer predicts Milwaukee will become after the millennials take over. Wangard’s data shows more out-of-staters moving to Milwaukee and more college graduates staying here. The prediction is that Milwaukee’s downtown will fill with young professionals living alone, or as unmarried couples without children, in smaller apartments. They will wait longer to have kids, own cars and buy houses, meaning they will be living and spending near downtown Milwaukee for years to come. “The millennial generation is a big group population-wise, and the tail end of the millennials is roughly age 16 right now,” said Stewart Wangard, chairman and chief executive officer. “So we have a long, strong demand cycle ahead of us.” Read the full article at BizJournals.com »
