Wangard considers grocery, office, apartments near Rockwell campus

Wangard Partners Inc. has an option to buy a major site at East Greenfield Avenue and South First Street in Milwaukee and is drawing plans for a grocery, apartments and offices.Stewart Wangard, chairman and chief executive officer, said his Milwaukee-based firm is in discussions with a grocer to run an up to 45,000-square-foot store. An up to four-story building at the corner of First and Greenfield could have apartments or offices, Wangard said.There are two potential office tenants negotiating for 50,000 and more than 60,000 square feet of space, respectively, Wangard said. The site also could accommodate 60 apartments, he said.The bank-owned property is at a central intersection in Milwaukee. Walkers Point and the 3rd Ward are to the north. Bay View is to the south.
