Wangard Walker's Point Project with Cermak, Apartments Advances

A Cermak Fresh Market grocery and a neighboring apartment and retail building in Walker's Point took another step closer to a planned spring construction start on Monday. Wangard Partners Inc. proposes the $47.7 million development on a former industrial site at East Greenfield Avenue and South First Street. Supporters such as Rockwell Automation say the project, especially the new retail, will help employers and residents of the neighborhood. Milwaukee's Plan Commission unanimously approved the project zoning on Monday. The Common Council's Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee will review the project Tuesday.
